KAYAK FISHING

Using a kayak as a fishing craft is an idea that is thousands of years old. The word kayak or "qajaq" as the Inuit people who originated them spelled it, literally means hunting boat. There were lots of different shapes and
sizes for the specific conditions and the types of prey these arctic hunters were stalking. Seals, walrus and all varieties of fish were hunted and captured via kayaks. These days, for most of us kayak fishing is more of a sport than a means of survival. Never the less, kayaks make a great
vehicle from which to catch fish.

Once you get a big hit get ready! The New England Whalers of old reffered to this tug of war as a "Nantucket Sleigh Ride".
