HUDSON RIVER KAYAK TOURS

Beacon to Newburgh Waterfront for Lunch - $90 3 to 4 hours - beginner
A unique opportunity to explore the Hudson River by kayak, get some exercise and have a fantastic meal at one of the restaurants on the revitalized Newburgh waterfront. It's a great place to relax while enjoying beautiful views of the Hudson Valley. Social and fun, *Notice the later times mean happy hour paddles!! After a meal and beautiful paddle back across the majestic Hudson River, stay in Beacon for a gallery stroll, visit open studios, gift and antique shops or a trip to the world renouned DIA Art Museum.
Please note: Lunch is purchased optionally by all participants and is not included in the tour price. Also, the Hudson Line of the
NY Metro North Railroad serves the Beacon Train Station, the Beacon Launch and it's only a short walk from here into town.

TGIF - Beacon to Newburgh for Appetizers - $90 3 to 4 hours - beginner
Summer time, when the water is warm and the livin' is easy. Enjoy a Friday afternoon kayak tour on the Hudson River with a fun and relaxing stop at the popular Newburgh Waterfront. An ice cold drink, a tropical atmosphere and some relaxation before the paddle back to Beacon and It's shops, restaurants and galleries.

Cork & Kayak Tour - Kingston, NY- $125 5 to 6 hours - beginner
A Kayak Adventure & Wine Tasting Tour - An afternoon of fun and adventure on the Hudson River followed by an epicurean adventure at Adair Vineyards. We'll kayak around Kingston Point Park and exploxe the Rondout Creek for a few hours. Then we head directly to Mark's place at Adair Vineyards. Mark, the owner and vintner takes us for a tour of his beautiful vineyard with a tasting from his cellars. This combo is a show stopper and makes a great family adventure or corporate team building experience.

Bannerman Castle Tour - $100 5 to 6 hours - intermediate
The most natural and rewarding way to experience this Hudson River landmark. Paddle to Pollepel Island, home of "Bannerman's Castle". This trip includes a guided walking tour of the island with knowledgeable staff from the Bannerman Castle Trust. This is a long day on the water (5 hours of paddling) so we recommend you have some significant paddling experience to handle the mileage. Beginners, athletes and adventurers welcome.

Constitution Marsh Tour - $90 4 to 5 hours - beginner
Constitution Marsh is a National Wildlife sanctuary managed by the Audubon Society of New York. It is a beautiful and breathtaking place to paddle. This ecosystem is home to over 200 bird species and a birder's paradise. We'll stop for lunch at the Audubon Center and learn more about the area. Please note: the Hudson Line of the NY Metro North Railroad serves the Cold Spring Train Station, the Cold Spring Launch and it's only a short walk into the Village of Cold Spring.

Hudson River Storm King Tour - $90 3 to 4 hours - beginner
Group will launch from Foundry Dock Park, Cold Spring NY, then paddle north 2 or 3 miles to the Gateway of the Hudson Highlands….Storm King Mountain and Breakneck Ridge. We'll discuss the history, flora and fauna of the area and then break for lunch at Sandy Beach followed by a return paddle to Cold Spring. Please note: the Hudson Line of the NY Metro North Railroad serves the Cold Spring Train Station, the Cold Spring Launch and it's only a short walk into the Village of Cold Spring.

Garrison Landing Kayak Tour - $90 3 to 4 hours - beginner
A lovely section of the Hudson River. Bear Mountain to the south, West Point, Constitution Marsh and Cold Spring to the north. The "Gateway to the Hudson Highlands".
Please note: the Hudson Line of the NY Metro North Railroad serves both Garrison and the Cold Spring's Train Station.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS

Quickstart Kayak Instruction is a 3 hour program on quiet water.

A great introduction to the sport of kayaking and a must for new paddlers. Students will learn and practice basic paddle strokes allowing them to safely and comfortably maneuver on quiet water. Topics of discussion will include kayak gear and clothing, personal safety, and effective rescue techniques. No experience is necessary as this is a workshop for beginners. We suggest taking this course before taking any of our trips or other courses.

The Essentials of Kayak Touring is a full day program on flat water.

The purpose of this class is to teach beginner paddlers to safely and enjoyably kayak on lakes, protected ocean environments and other types of flatwater. If you are interested in learning proper paddling technique or have just purchased a kayak this class is for you! Topics covered include basic gear and outfitting, wet exits, rescues, directional and support strokes. We will also discuss safety concerns and potential hazards to paddlers.
Those who complete this course should stay within swimming distance of shore in areas with no conditions such as wind, waves, or current.

The Basics of Coastal Kayaking is a full day program on the Hudson.

This course offers touring paddlers an opportunity to improve their paddling skills on the Hudson River. If you are interested in learning how to paddle safely in a coastal environment this class is for you! You will learn all the basics including launching and landing, wet exits, directional strokes, bracing, boat control, basic navigation, and self and assisted rescues. This is a great course for anyone who owns or is considering buying a sea kayak. Paddlers who complete this course should be capable of paddling up to half mile off shore with mild conditions such as light and variable winds, up to one foot of wind chop, and current speeds up to 1 knot.

Coastal Kayak Safety and Rescue

Our rescue skills clinic will build your confidence and competence on the water. This fun instructional program focuses on dealing with capsize recovery. We will teach you the skills and techniques necessary to successfully complete a variety of self and assisted rescues in a kayak. Learning these skills is a must for the safety conscious paddler. This clinic is also a great primer for those learning to Eskimo Roll. In this workshop we concentrate on the different techniques in self and assisted rescues. A 4-hour session with both education and a lot of hands on practice. This is a great place to experiment and develop what techniques work best for you, in your boat, with your gear. Private clinics are available for solo kayakers, paddling partners, kayak race teams and couples.

Eskimo Rolling Clinic

Whether you are just beginning to learn to eskimo roll or brushing up on a rusty one, we can help. Proper technique is crucial to achieve this advanced skill. Tired of wondering which way is up, or swimming that last rapid? Our intensive clinic will teach you the skills necessary to perfect the Eskimo Roll. Whether it's a C to C Roll, a Sweep Roll or a Greenland Roll our instuctors will help you find what style works best for you. Learning this skill is a must for anyone interested in pursuing whitewater or sea/surf paddling.

Beacon Kayak Tours are a 3 hour program on the Hudson River.

Rediscover the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Particpants will meet and launch at the public boat launch located in the Beacon Metro North parking lot. Each trip begins with views of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge and the revitalized Newburgh waterfront . We will then paddle south about a mile to Denning's Point, the future home of the Rivers and Estuaries Center, up into the Fishkill Creek tidal marsh and to Madam Brett Park.
A return trip to our starting point will follow with a brief rest stop at Denning's Point beach, a designated Hudson River Watertrail and Greenway site. This trip also offers views of Mount Beacon, the Fishkill Ridge Range, plus Bannerman Island Castle and Storm King Mountain to the south.

Basic instruction and all the kayaking equipment you'll need is provided. Those
who register for a kayak tour on the Hudson River need to be fairly fit, able to swim and should be capable of paddling up to half mile off shore with mild conditions such as light and variable winds, in up to one foot of wind chop, and with current speeds up to 1 knot.


Kayak Fitness and Race Training Programs stay fit or learn to race.

This course offers recreational and touring paddlers an opportunity hone their paddling and rescue skills. Get in shape and learn what you need to become a more competitive kayak or adventure racer. Forward stroke clinics plus all the basics including launching and landing, wet exits, directional strokes, boat control and self and assisted rescues.

All of our kayaking classes are registered with the ACA and taught by ACA certified instructors. Classes may be added and private lessons and programs are always available for couples, solo paddlers, families, school and corporate groups!

Cancellation Policy: We reserve the right to postpone or cancel any program if we anticipate unsafe weather conditions or if less than 3 participants are registered for a specific program. If a postponement or cancellation occurs due to either of these conditions you will be contacted at least 24 hours before the program was scheduled to start and have the have the option of rescheduling, receiving a credit towards a future program or a full refund.
If something comes up and you need to reschedule or cancel please call us immediately.
We require the following notifications for you to receive a full or partial refund. If you need to cancel and would like a full refund we need to be notified at least 48 hours prior to the start of the scheduled program. Cancellations made after that will have the option of either a 50% refund or credit towards a future program. Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the start of a scheduled program will not be eligible for a refund but can receive credit towards a future program. If you do not contact a member of our staff or the instructor and do not show up for a scheduled program you will not be eligible for a refund or credit. If you have any questions regarding this policy please give us a call.
