The
GREAT RIVER SWEEP, April 2008
Long Dock, Beacon,
NY
Join Hudson Valley Pack &
Paddle for this years volunteer cleanup on the Beacon Waterfront as part of
Scenic Hudson's
Great River Sweep. The Great River Sweep is an annual all-volunteer cleanup
of the Hudson River watershed and for one week in April each year, hundreds
of communities join to save our river. Hudson Valley Pack & Paddle's past
cleanups have included the following locations: Long Dock, Beacon, three cleanups,
the Wappingers Creek, two cleanups, Denning Point and the Fishkill Creek,
two cleanups.
We are very proud to have been able to remove over 300 cubic yards of trash,
(about 8 big Dumpsters full) with the help of numerous volunteers over the
last 7 years and with the support of Jim Popovich and Royal Carting.

Outdoor Recreation Festival
Taconic Outdoor Recreation Festival, Clarence Fahnestock
State Park, Cold Spring, NY Try the latest kayaks for touring and recreational
paddling. Our staff of guides and instructors will be on hand providing tips
and advice. Arrive early as space is limitted. Other free outdoor acivities
are planned and food is available at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center.

Outdoor Education Center From the Taconic State Parkway
Take the exit for Route 301 West towards Cold Spring
and drive past Canopus Lake on right. Just past the "Wagon Wheel"
sign, turn left onto Dennytown Road go 1/4 mile and turn right. Follow signs
to the Taconic Outdoor Recreation Center. Park in lot, walk through Recreation
Center, follow marked trail to the Pond, less than 1/4 mile.
From I-84
Take the exit for Route 9 South, make left onto route
301. Drive east for approximately 5 miles, turn right onto Dennytown Road,
go 1/4 mile turn right and follow signs to the Taconic Outdoor Recreation
Center. Park in lot, walk through Recreation Center, follow marked trail to
the Pond, less than 1/4 mile.
Guided
Paddling Trip through the GREAT SWAMP, May 2008
Patterson, NY
Explore the Great Swamp by canoe or kayak. All necessary
equipment will be provided for this on water program. Our guides and instructors
are Licensed by the NYS DEC and the American Canoe Association. Cost $80.00
per person. Call 845-831-1300 to register or for additional information.

HUDSON RIVER GREENLAND FESTIVAL, June 2008
Croton
on Hudson, NY
The 4th Hudson River Greenland Festival at Croton Point Park will include
Instruction with Cheri Perry, Turner Wilson and others! Greenland-style kayak
races, rope demos and instruction, paddle making demos, and boat building.
Camping available, easily accessed from local highways and Metro North trains.

Great Hudson River Paddle! Join us for our
guided Hudson River kayak day trips in association with
this great annual Albany to NYC paddling event.

Saturday July, Day Trip: Wappingers/Chelsea Boat Club to Cold Spring
(approx. 10.4 miles)
Sunday July, Day Trip: Cold Spring to Annsville Creek
(approx. 10.6 miles)
Kayak launching is scheduled for 8:00AM each day in order to take advantage
of ebb tides and to avoid prevailing southerly winds later in the day. Cost
is $75.00 with your own approved gear or $100.00 per person which includes
all kayaking equipment and shuttle service. Last
years event was a great success, congratulations to all the day and thu-paddlers
who participated! Space is limited.Call

Hudson Bridge to Newburgh Beacon Bridge Kayak Tour, July - August 2008
Paddle
from Poughkeepsie, NY to Beacon, NY, a total of 15 miles on the Hudson River
with our staff of guides and instructors. Kayaking equipment is available
for rental or you can use you own approved gear.Cost is $75.00 with your own
approved touring kayak and equipment. An approximately 5 hour trip, the specific
date and time yet to be announced.

ANNUAL RIVER SWIM, Sunday, August 3, 2008
Newburgh
to Beacon, NY
Kayakers
are needed to help support those swimming across the Hudson River from Newburgh
to Beacon, NY.
This is a one mile swim, swimmer registration is at the Newburgh Waterfront
near Torches Restaurant. Kayakers, this only a 2-3 hour commitment, please
meet at the Beacon Public Launch at the Metro North Train Station in Beacon,
2 hours before the start of the Swim. Please
contact the swim organizers if you plan to volunteer as they need a head count

4th Annual GO ZERO KAYAK
RACE & RALLY, September 21, 2008
Long Dock and the Beacon Waterfront, Beacon,
NY
Calling
all kayakers, get together this Fall for an informal Rally Paddle from Beacon
to Bannerman Island. The races will start in the afternoon and include a 9mile
loop around Bannerman Island and back to the Beacon Waterfront. T-shirts
and BBQ for all race participants and prizes for the winners.

A
27 mile kayak race around Manhattan Island, via the Hudson, Harlem and East

In 2004 we moved into our new Beacon
Location! The Beacon store is located on Route 9D just south of I-84. This
location provides us with much needed retail floor and office space. It also
puts us closer to the Hudson River. Please come and visit us!
Cancellation Policy: We reserve the right
to postpone or cancel any program if we anticipate unsafe weather conditions
or if less than 3 participants are registered for a specific program. If a
postponement or cancellation occurs due to either of these conditions you
will be contacted at least 24 hours before the program was scheduled to start
and have the have the option of rescheduling, receiving a credit towards a
future program or a full refund. If something comes up and you need to
reschedule or cancel please call us immediately. We require the following
notifications for you to receive a full or partial refund. If you need to
cancel and would like a full refund we need to be notified at least 48 hours
prior to the start of the scheduled program. Cancellations made after that
will have the option of either a 50% refund or credit towards a future program.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the start of a scheduled program
will not be eligible for a refund but can receive credit towards a future
program. If you do not contact a member of our staff or the instructor and
do not show up for a scheduled program you will not be eligible for a refund
or credit. If you have any questions regarding this policy please give us
a call.
